Furthermore, the world of sertanejo music is filled with great stories, but are you aware of all of them?

Check out below the 5 curiosities about sertanejo music that will surprise you.

1- Leonardo helped create the duo Bruno and Marrone

It seems crazy, but believe it: this is the purest truth. Leandro and Leonardo met Bruno while he was still working as a clerk at his father's pharmacy. However, the duo already knew that Bruno had the dream of being a singer and was very talented, but to do that, he needed a partner. Thus, Leandro and Leonardo introduced Bruno to Marrone, and the two hit it off right away and quickly started playing at bars in Goiânia. The successful partnership was established in 1985, and 15 years later, they exploded with the hit “Dormi na praça.”

2- A rejected hit

The song Fio de Cabelo, a true classic in the sertanejo universe, was rejected by numerous musicians, even by Marciano, who at the time was part of a duo with João Mineiro. When it reached the hands of Chitãozinho and Xororó, it was quickly accepted, but still, it sparked many controversies. A prominent presenter of that time even broke the duo's LP live after harshly criticizing the song. But despite everything, the song became a true hit and is still considered one of the biggest successes for Chitãozinho and Xororó to this day.

3- From rock star to sertanejo star

Sérgio Reis is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in traditional sertanejo. But although many people don’t know this, the musician’s career began in another musical genre: rock and roll. Yes! Sérgio Reis was part of the acclaimed Jovem Guarda in the 60s and achieved success with the song “Coração de Papel” in 1967. However, five years later, he transitioned to the sertanejo style with the track “Menino da Gaita” and since then, he adopted the rhythm as his own and has not stopped releasing true hits.

4- Fernando & Fernando

We know that a large part of sertanejo duos uses stage names to make their identities more interesting. But in the case of the duo Fernando and Sorocaba, we understand the change as a necessity. This is because Sorocaba's name is also Fernando, just like his partner's. However, the nickname with the city name has followed him since college. Thus, they preferred to use only one Fernando's name and the nickname of the other. We can’t deny that the tactic worked very well, right folks?
