While in the past the biggest sertanejo hits were duets, nowadays many singers take the stage and release true hits on their own. To keep you cowboys and cowgirls informed about the country universe, today we at 7MBoots present a list of 5 singers who pursued solo careers. Some will surely surprise you! Check it out below.

5 Sertanejo Singers Who Went Solo

Daniel

1- Indeed, the sertanejo duo João Paulo and Daniel was at the height of success when in 1997, João Paulo lost his life in a car accident. Daniel was deeply affected. Some even suggested a new name for the continuation of the duo, but a year later, the singer decided to pursue a solo career. To this day, Daniel is one of the biggest names in national sertanejo.

2- Leonardo

Undoubtedly, the immense success of Leandro and Leonardo opened doors for many other artists in romantic sertanejo. However, in 1998, Leandro passed away from lung cancer. His brother, Leonardo, was heartbroken, but after some time, the singer saw music as a way to move forward, even apart from his eternal partner. Leonardo continued his solo career and still today is one of the most influential names in sertanejo in Brazil.

3- Sérgio Reis

Initially, when Sérgio Reis emerged in the Brazilian music scene, he was part of the Jovem Guarda movement, but gradually, the star transitioned into the country music realm. A true turning point in his career was the song “Corazón de Papel,” which marked his shift from MPB to a more traditional style.

4- Fafá de Belém

With an intense voice and contagious laughter, Fafá de Belém is, without a doubt, a versatile and charming woman. The star began in MPB, but due to her song “Nuvem de Lágri mas,” she ventured into the sertanejo universe. As one of the pioneering women in this style, Fafá chose, from the very beginning, to pursue a solo career.

5- Naiara Azevedo

The performer of the hit “50 Reais” started her solo career by chance in 2011, when she was dissatisfied with the song “Sou Foda” by the duo Carlos and Jader. That's when she composed a response to the song titled “Coitado,” featuring lyrics of female empowerment that drove the YouTube crowd wild. Since then, the singer has transformed into a true country diva and has achieved tremendous success in her solo career.
