Announce the launch of Vyconic technology for soybeans and highlight its benefits and innovations for the agricultural sector.
The giant Bayer has just announced a milestone for agriculture: Vyconic technology for soybeans. Innovative, this technology stands out as being the pioneer in conferring tolerance to five types of herbicides in a single genetic variety, representing a qualitative leap in the sector. The official launch took place at Commodity Classic 2025, in Denver, USA.
Vyconic's great differential lies in its ability to resist five herbicides with different mechanisms of action: dicamba, glufosinate, mesotrione, 2,4-D and glyphosate. This strategic combination offers farmers a wider range of options for weed control, optimizing management and application effectiveness.
Compared to previous generations, Vyconic incorporates two new tolerances: mesotrione and 2,4-D. The inclusion of these herbicides is especially relevant, as both are recognized for their high effectiveness in combating broadleaf weeds, a constant challenge for soybean producers.
In addition to herbicide tolerance, Bayer emphasizes that Vyconic was developed with cutting-edge genetics, aiming to ensure a high productive potential. Kacy Perry, leader of the soybean business of Bayer's Crop Science division in North America, points out that the new technology will allow farmers to customize their weed management programs, resulting in greater control efficiency and, consequently, in more productive harvests.
Brian Naber, president of Bayer's Crop Science division for North America, Australia and New Zealand, reinforces that the launch of Vyconic demonstrates the company's ongoing commitment to innovation in agriculture. The technology is expected to reach the United States and Canada markets from the 2027 harvest. Bayer also informed that it will continue to develop exclusive herbicide formulations to optimize the use of Vyconic technology.
In Brazil, Bayer has already started the process of registering the Vyconic brand, with a request filed on February 27, 2024. This launch reinforces Bayer's constant search for innovative solutions that boost agriculture and help producers face the challenges of the field.
